Last year was the 2^nd year for Webster Schoeder to be a part of the Greater Rochester Youth Wrestling League. We had 8 duals with a record of 5-3 securing a North Division Title and a trip to the GRYWL Championship! We had 4 GRYWL all-stars, 7 NYWAY State Qualifiers and 1 State Champion. We were also able to compete in 10 regular season tournaments winning 38 individual titles and winning the Finger Lakes Regional tournamnet! This year we hope to blow those numbers away!

We are excited to announce the start our 2019-2020 youth wrestling program!! This year we will be starting part of our program earlier than last year, to help our GRYWL wrestling team get ready for the upcoming season!

We will be having a meeting Tuesday November 12 at 6pm in Schroeder’s E-36 wrestling room. We are asking parents and wrestlers to attend. Our goal for this meeting is to get some of the paper work out of the way, discuss uniforms, scheduling of tournaments and duals, weigh ins and expectations.

Wrestlers should come in shorts and t-shirts so we can do weigh ins. We will not be wrestling or practicing in any way that night. Our objective is to get a head of the game, so that by the 16^th of December everything is in order for our first tournament (for those interested) in NYWAY’s Battle of the Belts at East High.

Thursday November 14^th we will have our first full practice 5:45pm to 7:15pm in E36 wrestling room. From that point on, practice will be Tuesdays and Thursday (except Thanksgiving) at 5:45pm until 7:15pm in the E36 room. This will be set up as an intramural program so no club payment will be due until we start the official youth program on the date of December 10^th.

These early intramural practices will focus on kids who want to compete in the GRYWL and those who want to take advantage of our tournament schedule. It will be faster pace and more intense then the regular program on Dec. 10^th. New and younger wrestlers are welcomed but should have a conversation with me the night of the meeting to make sure that they are able to keep up, not take anything away from the other wrestlers and not hurt their confidence before the start on December 10^th. The opportunities to compete and be apart of the team will always be available!!!
